Agung Mountain Sunset at Jemeluk Bay
NatureBeachSunsetAmed, North-East BaliBest sunset spot near Amed. There is something special about watching the sun set at a beautiful location. It inspires a feeling of peace and serenity - especially when sharing the experience with your partner. One of our top romantic activities to do in Amed is watching the stunning sunset overlooking Jemeluk Bay and Mount Agung.
At the hill near Jemuluk Bay, you can find two options to have a drink while enjoying the sun setting over Mount Agung. The simple Joli Cafe is no more than a wooden shed but has great affordable cocktails. The slightly more upscale Blue Earth Village Restaurant is a great option too. -

Canoe at the Hidden Tamblingan Lake
NatureCultureMunduk, Central BaliThis might be the most secret spot on this list, in Central Bali's Munduk Region. While masses of tourists visit Ulan Danu temple on Beratan Crater Lake, the Tamblingan Lake is way less known, and has a stunning temple on the lake as well.
If you are lucky, you might even be able to rent a canoe from one of the locals living here, to explore more of the lake. There is a beautiful forest on the other side. And if your date goes very well, you can even rent a tent here and spend the night ;-).
Consider combining Lake Tamblingan with one of the North Bali waterfalls! -

Traditional Craft: Make Real Silver Rings Together
ActiveCultureSidemen, East BaliSuper authentic creative experience in East Bali's village of Sidemen for a date or on your honeymoon (if you don't have enough of rings after your wedding already!). Visit Mister Agung to learn an authentic Balinese craft: making silver rings. Of course you can take the rings home as a souvenir after you're done. Book this well in advance, often booked way out!

Rafting through the Jungle at Tegala Waja
ActiveNatureThrillNear Sidemen, East BaliThe Tegala Waja river flows through the green Sidemen Valley. While there is rafting in Ubud too, closer to South bali, we believe this is definitely Bali's prettiest river to raft on. While the 3-hour rafting experience gets a little wild once in a while (nothing crazy though), we enjoyed the scenery a lot, floating past waterfalls and through jungle. At the endpoint a simple Indonesian lunch will be served before you'll be driven back to the starting point.

Visit a Magical Sauna overlooking an Ubud River Valley
Relaxing & wellnessUbud, Central BaliThe day spa at the Tjampuhan Hotel is a real hidden gem. While we were living in Ubud, we would go here almost every week... Positioned in a cave overlooking the river valley, the sauna complex has an air of mystery and might be our favorite romantic experience in Ubud. You can use the hot and cold whirlpool baths, a sauna, and a steam room. Enjoy the stone carvings around you while hearing the sounds of the river and jungle in the background. It is possible to walk all the way down to the river and take a shower under a natural waterfall. On top of that, they offer massages too!
TIP: Tjampuhan Spa is located at the start of the famous Campuhan ridge walk. Why not reward you and your partner with a Spa after walking the Campuhan trail? -

Experience the Kecak Fire Dance
CultureUluwatu, South BaliRight next to the Uluwatu temple on the South Bali peninsula near Uluwatu, at sunset a traditional Hindu Kecak Fire Dance is performed by local Balinese people. After exploring the temple, you could stay for this spectacular fire dance show.
It's one of Bali's most popular and iconic art performances and takes place for an hour every day during sunset (from 6PM to 7PM). The dance is truly a sight to behold as it is not accompanied by any musical instruments but the dancers' acapella clap. While looking at the performance, you will see the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. The dance performance is aligned with the sunset. It is usually sold out early, so make sure you book the tickets in advance. -

Spectacular Sunset at the Istana Spa
Relaxing & wellnessSunsetUluwatu, South BaliOur favorite sauna in all of Bali. When we were living in Canggu we would sometimes drive the whole 1.5 hour way down to Uluwatu just to enjoy an afternoon of relaxation here. Book this place in advance, you won't regret it.
On Uluwatu cliff overlooking the Indian ocean, this sauna offers cold baths, steam rooms, two sauna's and large swimming pools. As it's facing east, you will be able to enjoy the most spectacular sunset from this place if you book the evening timeslot. Usually after sunset, the staff will light a bonfire, giving this place magical vibes. -

Walk the Campuhan Ridge
ActiveNatureUbud, Central BaliCampuhan Ridge walk is a spectacular but easy romantic walk in Ubud (30 minutes one-way), taking you past the ancient Gunung Lebah temple and over a ridge overlooking two jungle valleys. The route gives plenty of opportunity to shoot amazing photos of you and your partner - but leaving your camera at home and just enjoying the landscape together is a great option too.
The walk starts close to the town of Ubud (see Google Maps link below). At the end of the ridge you will find some bamboo huts selling refreshing juice and coconuts.
Instead of walking back, you could opt to continue walking straight for another 25 minutes through a local Balinese village until you reach Jungle Fish, a luxury infinity-pool overlooking the jungle. -

Swim, Jump and Slide at Aling Aling Waterfalls
ActiveNatureThrillNorth Bali, between Munduk and LovinaNot the largest waterfalls in North Bali, but definitely the most fun. Jumping, swimming, sliding: it's all possible at Aling Aling waterfalls. Great for a date if you are in North Bali (Munduk or Lovina, or you could make it a day trip from South Bali. Consider combining this with activity with Tamblingan Lake or some more waterfalls nearby: Sekumpul & GitGit waterfall are also great.

Watch the Surf & Sunset at Uluwatu Cave
NatureBeachSunsetUluwatu, South BaliA perfect date in Uluwatu when sunset aligns with low tide. The Uluwatu Cave is one of the entrances to one of the best surf spots in Bali, and gets filled with water during high tide. During low tide however, you can descend the stairs and enjoy a beautiful Uluwatu sunset from the Cave. Locals are selling simple drinks down here.
In case its high tide, this place is still interesting. There are many restaurants on top of the cave, from where you can watch surfers catch some of the last waves of the day before the sun sets. The most popular bar is the Single Finn because of its excellent sunset views. -
Bath in Holy Water at Tirta Empul Temple
CultureNorth of Ubud, Central BaliBeautiful Balinese temple complex north of Ubud. Get to understand the Balinese Hindu culture better and get a refreshing bath in the holy water! Pura Tirta Empul, meaning "Holy Spring", is a sacred mountain spring complex in Bali. Water from the spring flows into the Tukad Pakerisan River, surrounded by purifying baths, pools, and fishponds. A purifying bath with 13 carved spouts is in the central courtyard. Visitors are welcomed to take part in the cleansing ceremony.
The temples are located near the Tegallalang Rice Fields. It might be a good idea to combine a visit to the two locations. Do note Tirta Empul is a popular tourist attraction, even though it is still in use as an actual temple too. You might run into large crowds. -
Relax between Canggu's Palm Trees at La Brisa
BeachClubCanggu, South BaliLa Brisa in Canggu is hard to describe as its a very unique place. Its a bunch of simple wooden buildings surrounded by palm trees and with a pool in between. But somehow it all fits perfectly together, making it our favorite spot to hang out in Canggu, especially as the sun is setting. Food here is excellent as well, we love their poke bowl.
The amount of sunbeds and relaxed seating options here is limited compared to some of the other beach clubs. They have a lot of bean bags on the beach but they fill up fast. In any case, it is a very nice place to escape from the bustle of Canggu for a few hours - especially during sunset times. -
Visit Asia's Largest Water Park
ActiveThrillKuta, South BaliUp for a fun day? Waterbom Water Park Bali is the largest waterpark in Asia, and is located in Kuta (close to Seminyak). It offers many pools and slides, many of which you can enjoy together with your partner, in some cases by sliding down on a massive tube. Do note it can get crowded, and there might be a lot of kids around, but we've been a few times as adults alone and had lots of fun!
-
Ubud's Best Sunset at Sayan House
Relaxing & wellnessSunsetUbud, Central BaliExperience spectacular valley views while enjoying Japanese-Latin fusion food. Best place around Ubud for sunset overlooking the jungle and scenic Ayung River Valley, great for just sipping a cocktail too. We suggest booking a spot at the Sunset Bar in advance (ask for a table near the edge for the best views!).

Take a Walk at Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
ActiveNatureTabanan Regency, Central BaliWe believe the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces in the Tabanan region of Central Bali are much prettier than the overcrowded Tegalallang Rice Terraces. The drive to Jatiluwih takes a bit over an hour from either Canggu or Ubud. Jatiluwih is great for a romantic walk between the rice fields - there are different routes you can take, some short 30-minute walks as well as longer hikes.
Afterwards, we love to go for coffee nearby at one of the coffeeshops overlooking the rice terraces - Batu Karu Kopi is our favorite coffeeshop here :-). Alternatively, consider combining Jatiluwih with the Penatahan Hot Springs!

Visit the Luxury Cliffside Sundays Beach Club
BeachClubSouth Bali, near UluwatuOn a beautiful secluded white sand beach down from the South Bali cliffs you'll find the Sundays beach club, a great destination if you are staying in Uluwatu or Nusa Dua. To get down to the beach, expect to take a breathtaking elevator down.
While Sundays does accept walk in guests, we recommend booking one of the VIP Day Beds well in advance, which is pricey but most of the fee can be used to order food and drinks. Visitors can enjoy the crystal-clear blue waters by swimming, but depending on the tides can also borrow one of the kayaks or stand-up-paddle boards. -
Simple Sunset Drinks at Cemagi's Cliff
Relaxing & wellnessBeachSunsetCemagi, near CangguWell known by locals, but for tourists a bit of a hidden gem. This sunset spot on Mengening Beach in Cemagi (close to Canggu) is very local, but lovely for a simple date. Here, you'll find simple local stalls lined up along the edge of a cliff, where you can have a drink while the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
-
Snorkeling at Blue Lagoon Beach
ActiveBeachNear Padangbai, East BaliWhy not make a snorkel trip with your date or partner? Near the town of Padangbai, 30 minutes south of Candidasa. Blue Lagoon is a beautiful small beach surrounded by cliffs. You will share the beach with local macaque monkeys, which are an attraction in itself but not the main reason people go to Blue Lagoon. Blue Lagoon is known especially for its vibrant coral and marine life formations. It is home to a diverse range of marine species, including colorful coral gardens, clownfish, parrotfish, and even the occasional reef shark.

Hike down to Nyang Nyang Beach
ActiveBeachNear Uluwatu, South BaliIf you and your partner love a secluded beach with pristine white sand and clear aquamarine water, then the Nyang Nyang Beach near Uluwatu is one of the locations you must visit.
This beach is one of the most beautiful and clean beaches in all of Bali. It is a short drive from Uluwatu, and you can easily rent a scooter to drive you there. You might as well hire a private car or driver. Most resorts provide this.
The beach has two entrances, one towards the east and a new road towards the west. The roads are very steep. You'll be asked to pay a small entrance fee at the entrance, and then you can start your descent down the cliff to reach the beach (we like the hike down from the road further east, this path starts near Villa Sol Y Mar on Google Maps). This takes about 15-20 minutes.
Cozy Warungs are at the top and bottom of the cliff to provide snacks and refreshments. The eastern side of the beach has a shipwreck you can explore and take pictures on. Explore the beach to your heart's content by taking a stroll with the sand sifting through your legs and the ocean breeze keeping you calm and relaxed. You can also go for a cool swim.
It would be best to start your journey and exploration mid-morning before it gets too hot and populated. -
Enjoy a Private Hot Spring at Penatahan
North of Tabanan, 1hr from Canggu and Ubud.Roughly 1 hour drive from either Canggu and Ubud, you'll find an off the beaten path hot spring mostly frequented by locals. However we personally believe it's great for couples on a honeymoon or on a date as they offer private hot spring pools which you can rent affordably by the hour. As far as we know it's the only hot spring in Bali that offers such private pools.
When we visited there was no need to book in advance. We just had to wait 20 minutes for our private pool to be ready, and there is a large heated public pool as well. but to be sure it might be worth reaching out to them in advance through Whatsapp: +6285100540851.
Consider combining this trip with a walk at the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces! -
Explore Seminyak Nightlife
ClubNightlifeSeminyak, South baliFancy a party? The town of Seminyak is your best bet, and easy to reach from Canggu too. Two of our favorite nightlife spots are La Favela and Motel Mexicola. La Favela is a beautifully decorated hotspot themed like a jungle, partially outside, with multiple floors featuring different styles of music. The venue is enormous.
Alternatively, Motel Mexicola is a vibrant and eccentric Mexican club that offers frequent house parties with live Latin music. This place is popular with couples, especially with those that want to give salsa or bachata a try. -
Cook a Balinese Meal with a Chef in Canggu
ActiveCultureCanggu, Central BaliTasty cultural lunch date! Right on the beach in Canggu, the chef of Hotel Tugu offers a private cooking class. This hotel has been the chosen caterer of 5 Indonesian presidents when they were in Bali! Book this activity well in advance. When booking, you are asked to choose 3 dishes, a spicy type of sambal sauce and a desert.

Wake Up Early for the Sanur Sunrise
NatureBeachSanur, South BaliOne for the early birds. Watching the sun rise over the Lombok Strait from Sanur beach is a beautiful experience. The beach area is very quiet at this time, and on clear days you may even see the silhouette of Mount Rinjani on Lombok island. You will have to wake up early though, as the sun appears between 5:50 and 6:30AM depending on the month of the year.

Sunset at Tanah Lot - Temple in the Ocean
BeachCultureNear CangguTanah Lot Temple is one of the most well-known and photographed Hindu temples in Bali. It is located around 20 minutes north-west of Canggu, on the coast of Tabanan regency. This place is an excellent place to enjoy the sunset with your partner, and a good opportunity to take honeymoon photos.
You'll find a beautiful architectural Balinese gate and numerous art shops selling local handicrafts and other items such as T-shirts, Balinese sarongs, hats, sandals, accessories, paintings, and woodcarvings. Although nights at sunset are the most promising time of day to visit the temple because of the stunning scenery, expect to see more people during this time. -
Colorful Sunset at La Plancha
BeachNightlifeSunsetSeminyak, South BaliColorful Seminyak beach bar with a unique vibe. Pick one of the many colorful bean bags to sit right on the sand of Seminyak's beach. Enjoy the sun setting over the Indian Ocean while a DJ plays some relaxed tunes. Make sure to get here by 5pm to secure a seat for you and your partner for sunset around 6-7PM. The hour before sunset is often refered to as golden hour and worth experiencing as well!

Practise a Fun Dive in Amed
ActiveNatureThrillAmed, North-East BaliAmed in North-East Bali has amazing diving spots with spectacular coral reefs and magnificent underwater life. There are famous dive spots such as the US Liberty Shipwreck, The Drop Off and the Japanese Shipwreck.
Amed also has affordable dive schools where you can easily obtain your scuba certificates, whether PADI or SSI, however for a date a 4-day dive class might be a bit too much! Fortunately it is also possible to practise a "fun dive" together with an experienced dive guide, without having a dive certification yourself.
If you like it, consider the full 4-day program to get certified though! Can you imagine how fun and exciting it would be to learn diving with your significant other? The places you could explore for the rest of your life together and all the coral reefs you could explore under the sea whilst holding each other hands?
Around Amed, you are likely to see several exotic and local underwater animals like the colorful nudibranch, the fascinating clown triggerfish, exotic manta rays, huge turtles and many others. -
Mount Batur Sunrise Hike + Hot Springs
ActiveNatureDaytripGroup tourPickup from Amed/Canggu/Lovina/Seminyak/Ubud/UluwatuHike up to Mount Batur for a spectacular sunrise with breakfast, and enjoy a well-deserved hot spring swim after your climb. An early wake-up, but well worth it!
To make it to sunrise at Mount Batur, you will be picked up at your hotel a few hours after midnight (depending on your start location). After a one-hour relatively easy climb, helped by an experienced guide and a flashlight on the helmet provided to you, you will reach the top of the volcano. On the top, a spectacular sunrise awaits you: slowly the sun will rise and reveal a spectacular landscape overlooking the Batur crater, Mount Agung, the Lombok Sea, and (on clear days) even Lombok Island and Mount Rinjani. After the climb, enjoy a well-deserved relaxation at the natural hotsprings bordering Batur Lake.
The region Kintamani, where Mount Batur is located, is famous for it's coffee plantations. On the way back, the tour will make a stop at a coffee plantation before dropping you back to your hotel.
