Luxury high end villas are much more affordable in Bali compared to beach destinations in Europe or North America. Most private villas here are still part of a resort, so while you can experience all the privacy you need, you will still have access to hotel amenities like dining, spa treatments and fun activities - the best of both worlds!

• The best ocean-view villas can be found on the cliffs of Uluwatu, but not all of them have direct beach access. The Bulgari Resort has some amazing cliffside villas and does have a spectacular private beach which can be reached by elevator.
• Beachfront Private Villas with direct beach access are rare in Bali, but can be found at some resorts in Seminyak, including the classy Oberoi. Alternatively, BASK on the island of Gili Meno offers amazing private beachfront villas.

Their marble bathrooms with sunken or soaking bathtubs are traditional and magnificent. This resort is famous for its spectacular bar on top of a rock in the Indian Ocean (great for couples to enoy the sunset!), as well as the stunning Kubu Beach, and countless restaurants, pool and wellness options. We did make an exception listing this place, as most cabins do not have a private pool - some of them offer a jacuzzi however, which is much better as this place is much cooler than most of Bali due to its altitude. Luxurious cabins offer breathtaking nature views over mountains and jungle all the way to the Java Sea.
  
  At night the sky lights up and the stars are so visible here they look like a city. Don't miss out on the bonfire! With only 6 cabins, Munduk cabin is the best luxury sanctuary you'll find in central Bali. The staff is super friendly and the on-site Ulekan restaurant is known as the best restaurant in the region (welcoming outside guests too).

  We try to book these villas often for couples using our honeymoon planning service as we think its one of the best options in Ubud, but as The Kayon only feature 5 of these villas, they are commonly sold out well in advance.
  
  One thing we love about the Kayon resort is that they organize a daily complimentary morning walk along beautiful rice paddies. A great active way to start your day! In addition, the staff here is extremely friendly and personal. Finally, the fact that this resort has its own waterfall which you can admire while enjoying an afternoon tea from a wooden deck should be enough reason to book this place a.s.a.p. before it sells out!
