Honeymoon Activities near Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua is located on the Bukit Peninsula in South Bali. The peninsula has a lot to offer for honeymooners. Amazing beaches with spectacular sunsets, mesmerizing temples with monkeys roaming around freely, the best fresh fish restaurants in all of Bali and a spectacular statue that is higher than the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
On top of that, Nusa Dua is an excellent base for exploration of the rest of Bali through day-trips. For example, thanks to the fast toll road, the romantic jungle town of Ubud is only 1 hour drive from Nusa Dua.

Kecak Fire Dance and Uluwatu Temple
CultureUluwatu, 30 min from Nusa DuaRight next to the Uluwatu temple, at sunset a traditional Kecak Fire Dance is performed by local Balinese people. After exploring the temple, you could stay for this spectacular fire dance show.
It's one of Bali's most popular and iconic art performances and takes place for an hour every day during sunset (from 6PM to 7PM). The dance is truly a sight to behold as it is not accompanied by any musical instruments but the dancers' acapella clap. It is usually sold out, so make sure you book the tickets in advance.

Istana Spa & Sunset (Uluwatu)

On Uluwatu cliff overlooking the Indian ocean, this sauna offers cold baths, steam rooms, two sauna's and large swimming pools. As it's facing east, you will be able to enjoy the most spectacular sunset from this place if you book the evening timeslot. Usually after sunset, the staff will light a bonfire, giving this place magical vibes.

Mount Batur Sunrise Hike + Hotsprings from Nusa Dua
ActiveNatureDaytripGroup tourStart & Finish at your Nusa Dua Hotel.Hike up to Mount Batur for a spectacular sunrise with breakfast, and enjoy a well-deserved hot spring swim after your climb. An early wake-up, but well worth it!
To make it to sunrise at Mount Batur, you will be picked up at your hotel a few hours after midnight (depending on your start location). After a one-hour relatively easy climb, helped by an experienced guide and a flashlight on the helmet provided to you, you will reach the top of the volcano. On the top, a spectacular sunrise awaits you: slowly the sun will rise and reveal a spectacular landscape overlooking the Batur crater, Mount Agung, the Lombok Sea, and (on clear days) even Lombok Island and Mount Rinjani. After the climb, enjoy a well-deserved relaxation at the natural hotsprings bordering Batur Lake.
The region Kintamani, where Mount Batur is located, is famous for it's coffee plantations. On the way back, the tour will make a stop at a coffee plantation before dropping you back to your hotel.

Iljen Crater in Java (24-hour tour from Nusa Dua!)
ActiveNatureThrillGroup tourPickup from Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua and more. The Iljen Crater is one of the most magical places we have ever visited, and a great trip for couples that love nature and hiking and are keen to explore a different island beyond Bali. The volcano is located on the east tip of Java Island (Indonesia's capital Jakarta is on that island too). Java can be reached by a 4 hour drive and 1 hour ferry from most tourist destinations in South Bali. It is the most populous island in the world with roughly 150 million inhabitants - but still it manages to offer amazing nature like this volcano!
The Iljen vocanic crater is famous for a blue fire that lights for a few hours in the middle of the night, followed by a spectacular sunrise overlooking the Java Sea and Bali a bit later. This tour will pick you up from your Bali hotel in the afternoon. You will arrive in the early evening and will be offered a room to sleep for a couple of hours (you will need that rest!). In the midst of the night you will start your ascent up to the crater's edge (this took us around 1.5 hours). If you want, you can then ascent into the crater (30 mins down and 30 mins up again) to get closer to the blue fire. This requires you wearing a gas mask that is provided by your tourguide. Later the sun will rise, revealing a spectacular landscape that was not visible during your initial ascent. After walking down again (way faster than the way up) you will enjoy a healthy Javanese breakfast before returning to Bali.

East Bali Waterfall, Beach and Canyoning tour.
NatureBeachThrillGroup tourStart from your Nusa Dua HotelA lot of water fun in a single day in the off-the-beaten path East Bali region. That is what this small group tour offers. You will be visiting a beautiful waterfall which is great for swimming (Tegenungan Waterfall), the scenic Blue Lagoon beach famous for snorkling (but also known for the monkeys roaming around), and a hidden canyon through which a river flows.
At the canyon, you will participate in canyoning activities, and at the Blue Lagoon Beach you will have the opportunity to snorkel with gear provided. Blue Lagoon Beach, near Padang Bai where the ferries to Lombok depart, is a fairly small beach, but we love it as it's surrounded by greenery and not very crowded.

Munduk & Bedugul Day Trip from Nusa Dua
NatureCultureDaytripPrivate tourPick-up in your Nusa Dua HotelUlan Danu Temple is the first picture that shows up if you Google Bali. It might be the most iconic sight on the island, situated against Lake Beratan in the Bedugul region of Bali. But this region has more to offer than just the temple, and this PRIVATE TOUR is a great way to explore it!
The Bedugul region can easily be spotted on any map: it's where you see the 3 lakes towards the north of the island. These lakes are part of a massive volcanic crater region at high altitudes. This results in very distinct vegetation and a much cooler climate than you will find in most of Bali. A great place to escape the heath!
One stop during this tour is the Handara Gate, which is a great spot for memorable Bali Honeymoon pictures. The pretty Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are next, there is opportunity to swim at these.
Finally this tour will stop at a very romantic spot: an amazing viewpoint on the ridge of the crater from where you can see two lakes at once. We love this area a lot, and would even recommend you staying here for a few days (see our Munduk Honeymoon Guide), but this tour is also a great way to get to know the area!

Sundays Beach Club
BeachClub30m drive from Nusa DuaOn a beautiful secluded white sand beach down from the South Bali cliffs you'll find the Sundays beach club. To get down to the beach, expect to take a breathtaking elevator down. While Sundays does accept walk in guests, we recommend booking one of the VIP Day Beds well in advance, which is pricey but most of the fee can be used to order food and drinks. Visitors can enjoy the crystal-clear blue waters by swimming, but depending on the tides can also borrow one of the kayaks or stand-up-paddle boards.

Tropical Temptation Beach Club
Relaxing & wellnessBeachClubNightlife20 min drive from Nusa DuaTropical Temptation is a luxury bohemian-styled Beach Club on one of the best beaches in South Bali. We have visited this beach club twice, read our full review here. What we like: its artsy, with classy vibes, stunning views over the ocean and cliffs of Melasti Beach, offers great food and is relatively affordable for a beach club.
Melasti Beach is close to Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. You'll reach the beach by following a spectacular road down the cliffs. In our view Tropical Temptation is the best beach club in the area, with multiple pools, lots of options for healthy food. If you book a daybed here, you will have to pay a minimum spend starting at around 1 million IDR (65 USD) for a couple, but we would recommend going for the first row of beds which have a slightly higher minimum spend.

Day trip with driver from Nusa Dua
Private tourPick-up in your Nusa Dua HotelDo you know exactly what you want to explore in Bali? Just hire a car with a private driver for a day and plan your own private tour. This is very easily arranged! Let a trusted driver with many 5-star reviews on GetYourGuide take you around the island.
You can choose a custom trip duration between 6, 8 and 10 hours. This will cost you between 48 to 80 USD for the entire group. This is an affordable option to explore the island. However, do note that while most guided tours are more expensive, these usually include amenities like entrance fees and lunch. When you plan your own tour, you will need to buy entrance tickets and lunch yourself!
TIP: This "tour" can start and end in any Bali location. You could even choose to start your day in one hotel, explore the island, and get dropped off at a new location, saving you additional taxi fees!

Koral Restaurant - The Apurva Kempinski Bali
Fine diningViewpointThe Apurva Kempinski Bali, Nusa DuaKoral Restaurant is situated under a spectacular acquarium at The Apurva Kempinski Bali in Nusa Dua, meaning you will dine surrounded by sea life. We saw manta rays, countless species of fish and even small sharks! However it is not just the surroundings that are impressive here. Recently the French one Michelin-starred chef Jean-Baptiste Natali joined Koral, and we really enjoyed all dishes that came out of his kitchen.
We believe Koral is a perfect option for honeymooners that stay in Nusa Dua, Uluwatu or Seminyak, especially if you can secure one of the six tables under the tunnel (book well in advance!). Tell the restaurant you are on a honeymoon, a diver might swim by to wish you and your partner a happy honeymoon from the water. Koral can accomodate other surprises too, like proposals or birthday congratulations.
We enjoyed an 8-course assorted menu which kicked off with unique appetizers which directly gave us the feeling we were experiencing fine dining. This was quickly followed by caviar on coconut jelly combined with potato churros, a surprisingly tasty combination. A few seafood dishes followed of which the lobster with shiitake mushroom was our favorite. The only meat dish during our experience consisted of tasty striploin veal with black truffle. Finally we were treated with a few rounds of dessert of which we loved the banana parsley with almonds most. At the end we were quite full, and we decided to take the mignardises home.
We didn't opt for the wine pairing as we had to drive back to Canggu, but tried the mocktails instead and they were unique and tasty, especially the Desert Rose.
It is still a worthwhile experience if you can't book a table in the tunnel, but you would have to watch the sea life from the side. If at all possible, try to book a table in the tunnel as it does make the experience more special. These tables often get booked way in advance, especially for dinner, and you may be required to book drinks pairing with your tasting menu.
Gourmet menu around 100$ per person. 8-Course Zen menu around 170$. Add 60$ per person for wine pairing.

The Cave Bali
Fine diningPecatu, 20 mins from Nusa DuaThe most spectacular fine dining experience you will find in Bali, in a real natural cave! We've been at The Cave and loved it, but its one of the more fancy and expensive fine dining experiences in Bali. You will pay a lot more here than in some of the other fine dining restaurants. Dining in a cave is a very spectacular experience though, and we believe it might be worth splurging on this if you love to experience something very unique.
The Cave is located in an actual natural underground cavern that was only discovered a couple of years ago. They turned the space into a circular restaurant with around 10 tables for two people. This means capacity is very limited, book in advance! As we arrived early, before the start of the dinner the waiters suggested us to explore a bit of the cave beyond the main chamber.
Seven or ten courses will be served (we opted for seven), and between courses they will dim the lights and project a light show on the walls of the cave. The menu is designed by chef Ryan Clift, who worked with famous chefs like Peter Gordon and Emmanuel Renaut. We believe the food was very good and original, but the most memorable thing definitely is the setting in which it is served.
7-Course Set Menu: Roughly 105$ pp (200$ with wine/cocktail pairing).

Local favoritesJimbaran, 25 min from Nusa DuaThis might sound like an odd suggestion for a honeymoon, but if you are up for an authentic local lunch experience... The town of Jimbaran just south of the airport hosts the largest fresh fish market in Bali, right next to the beach. You can buy your own fresh fish, shrimps or octopus here - and get some of the local restaurants next to the market to grill them for you for a small fee. Warung Bu Wiwin is our favorite, they will add rice, veggies and sauce to your fish.
If you prefer a slightly more comfortable dining experience, on the same beach in Jimbaran you will find all of the best local fish restaurants in Bali.
